Uber on Monday said it formed a partnership with Carnegie Mellon University to develop driverless car and mapping technology, potentially putting the car-hailing company in direct competition with one of its biggest investors: Google.

In a blog post, Uber said it was forming the “Uber Advanced Technologies Center” in Pittsburgh, and that the partnership would provide a forum for the company to work closely with Carnegie Mellon faculty and students.
